We just wrapped up our women’s Bible study in Ezra and Nehemiah, and I really can’t stress enough how much I love Bible study.
When I first started—many, many years ago—I felt unprepared and unqualified. I kept thinking I had to already “know enough” to study well, missing the whole point: we study so that we can be prepared. We study so we can understand what we’re reading, explain it to someone else, and give the Lord room to show us what He wants us to see in a passage or a book.
One of my favorite moments in Nehemiah captures this perfectly:
“So the people went away to eat and drink at a festive meal, to share gifts of food and to celebrate with great joy, because they had heard God’s words and understood them.”
— Nehemiah 8:12
That last part—to understand God’s words—cannot be underestimated. There is real power, confidence, and excitement that comes with understanding Scripture. It changes how you worship, how you pray, and how you walk into everyday life.
I’m also deeply grateful for women’s Bible study because it keeps me accountable to time in the Word—not with pressure or overwhelm, but with the kind of accountability that points me back to what’s truly important. Study isn’t just something we squeeze in when life is calm; it’s something we choose on purpose because it matters.
If you’ve ever felt “not ready” to study the Bible, you’re not alone—and you’re exactly the kind of person Bible study is for. Let’s keep growing together.
